Feline was born November 7th 2011 in Hoopstad. She was one of the two cubs of a spotted mother and a black father. Unfortunately she couldn’t be raised by her mother, so we decided to give her the best life possible anyway. At that point we (Wild Cats World) were already planning to start a huge leopard project. First we hoped we could start this project in cooperation with Cheetah Experience in Bloemfontein, so we decided to have Feline live there and be raised there. After about three months it became clear we needed to start the project elsewhere, as we wanted to have our leopards huge space and the least possible interaction with humans (they don’t know). Also we decided to save her brother Felix who still was living at a temporarily address in Johannesburg, with tigers to play with, and we didn’t want him to end up in the wrong hands. Besides it was best for Feline to have a furry friend of her own species and age, so both cubs were moved to another place in Bloemfontein, called Zanchieta Wildcat Farm, where they were happily reunited. The first moment they were introduced Felix embraced his little sister, which was a very emotional moment for all of us.

It took quite a long time to get the necessary permits in the Eastern Cape to start the leopard project, and the new partnership with Daniell Cheetah Project in Spotted Cats Conservation, so it was only June 12th 2012 when the two leopards could finally be moved to their final home: a huge place where they enjoy themselves tremendously with their natural surroundings: rock piles, treestumps, waterpool, and lots of space to run and play! Feline was the first ambassador leopard of the Wild Cats World project until her brother Felix arrived.

Come and Meet us!
